Objection to the sale of Tafelberg The Upper Woodstock Residents Association (UWRA)

The Upper Woodstock Residents Association (UWRA) would like to add its voice to the widespread concern from Cape Town communities regarding the proposed sale of the Tafelberg school site in Sea Point to private developers.

The sale of this public property to private development simply entrenches Cape Town’s structural exclusivity. This site presents an opportunity for affordable housing in close proximity to the CBD, promoting a more inclusive and integrated city. By stopping the sale and considering the broader community need, City of Cape Town could set a historical precedent for surrounding areas, such as our own Woodstock.

In solidarity,
